Lawyer and theologian, professor of theology, writer. 1938 He was born in Hendek district of Sakarya. He memorized the Qur'an at a young age and studied Tajvid, Qiraat, Arabic, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh and other Islamic sciences in the Hasırcılar Qur'an Course and graduated from here. He successfully passed the preacher and mufti exams and served as a muezzin, imam and preacher in Fatih and Beyoğlu districts of Istanbul. After completing his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Law and Istanbul Higher Islamic Institute, he completed his doctorate in Istanbul University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of History in 1967. He successfully served as the head of departments such as Tafsir, Hadith and Fiqh at Istanbul University Institute of Islamic Studies and Erzurum Atatürk University. He became a professor in 1980. He settled in the USA and worked as a visiting professor at universities such as Philadelphia and Cambridge. He served as a religious officer and Islamic Sciences scholar for many years in the American state of Texas, where he went in 1988. As a retired faculty member, Kavakçı is currently taking classes in the English Theology departments of Istanbul and Marmara University Theology Faculties. In addition to many Turkish books, he also has English works on Islamic law.
